Meet Our Assessment Providers
DR. MATT HALL, PH.D., LP
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Minnesota. I completed both a master's degree in counseling and a Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Minnesota. Before starting my assessment practice, I worked for over a decade as a school psychologist at elementary, middle school, and high school levels. My time working in the school system has given me a deep understanding of the challenges that students and their caregivers face, and a passion for helping them receive effective services and support. My favorite part of being in private practice is having the time to get to know the people I work with, and seeing the life-changing difference this process makes for them.
When I'm not working I enjoy all the things that make me a true Minnesotan - spending time at the lake, playing hockey, and being a long-suffering Vikings fan. I love spending time with my wife and two elementary school age kids. All four of us are neurodivergent (Autistic, ADHD, or both) which is one of the reasons I am so passionate about the neurodiversity affirming movement.
DR. Rebecca Kanive, PH.D., NCSP
I’m a nationally certified and licensed school psychologist here in Minnesota, where I’ve called home for many years, even though I’m still getting used to the winters! I earned my master’s degree in educational psychology and my Ph.D. in school psychology from the University of Minnesota, and I’ve spent over 15 years working with children from early childhood through school age. My passion for supporting students and families began at Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, where I administered neuropsychological assessments for kids from birth through age 21.
Throughout my career, I’ve gained extensive experience in academic assessments and developing interventions, especially in reading and math. I’m also trained in Evidence-based Quality Intervention Practices and currently work as a school psychologist in a suburban district. My time in both clinical and school settings has given me a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs that students and families face, whether they’re navigating academic, social-emotional, behavioral, or mental health concerns.
I truly love getting to know students and their families, listening to their stories, and working together to create positive change and better outcomes. Building these connections is at the heart of what I do.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me enjoying Minnesota’s beautiful summers outdoors—whether it’s running, biking, spending time on the lake, or heading up north with my husband, our three energetic kids, and our dog. In 2024, I was excited to join White Bear Psychological Services as a postdoctoral fellow, where I now provide comprehensive assessments under the supervision of Dr. Hall.
Meet Our Therapy Providers
Courtney Sailer, m.a.
Therapy is often portrayed as a universally safe space where healing happens for clients who “put in the work.” But for those of us who are neurodivergent, that’s not always how it plays out. More often than not, the mental health field reinforces neurotypical norms by prioritizing linear thinking, pathologizing neurodivergent communication patterns, and overlooking the role of sensory needs in emotional regulation. No amount of "work" will ever be enough if the underlying expectation is that you present more neurotypically.
In case you need to hear it: You’re not broken, the system is. When therapeutic spaces aren’t thoughtfully and intentionally designed with neurodivergence in mind, it makes perfect sense that the process feels ineffective and disorienting. My goal as a neurodiversity-affirming therapist is to create a warm, welcoming space that values your insights and honors how you move through the world. As a late-diagnosed AuDHDer, I know how powerful it is to have access to spaces like this–and how necessary these spaces are for healing.
MY AREAS OF SPECIALTY
Since entering the counseling field in 2015, I have worked with individuals, families, and groups in a variety of settings. After several years as a licensed school counselor, I shifted to clinical counseling, and I am currently pursuing LPCC licensure under the supervision of Kristi Hall, M.A., LMFT.
I am passionate about supporting adults who are living, working, and caregiving against the grain. I have training and experience with neurodivergence (autism, ADHD, giftedness, OCD, PDA), perinatal mental health, and infant/early childhood mental health. In our work together, we can explore things like unmasking, autistic burnout recovery, unpacking internalized ableism, making peace with executive functioning differences, honoring your sensory needs, or learning to advocate for your needs without apology. I take an integrative approach to therapy that is primarily rooted in disability justice, feminist theory, and person-centered therapy. When you are in the therapy room with me, you can expect a space where stimming is welcomed, silence is respected, and eye contact is optional. Whether you’re formally diagnosed, self-identifying, or just beginning to explore the possibility of neurodivergence, I’m here to meet you where you’re at. Please note: I am only seeing clients virtually at this time.
HOW I SPEND MY FREE TIME
In addition to being a therapist, I am also a wife and mom raising a neurodivergent family. I enjoy engaging in advocacy work, listening to audiobooks, traveling, and being outdoors.
liz wienke, m.a., LPC
I know it can be a big step to reach out to a therapist, and I want to make the process as comfortable as possible. It's important to me that my clients see therapy as their time and that they feel safe and empowered to bring anything to the table. I see it as a privilege to be able to walk alongside my clients as they navigate life's challenges. We all have our "stuff" and I am continually amazed at my clients' bravery in being willing to dig into it and find new ways of relating to themselves and the world around them.
If you're ready to "dig in" yourself, let's set up a free 20 minute discovery call to see if we would be a good fit to work together. You can ask me questions about what I do (and don't do) and tell me a little bit about yourself and what you hope to gain from therapy. If you decide to move forward from there, we would schedule an initial session to help me gain a broader understanding of your history and to establish some treatment goals.
Beyond that, the trajectory of our work together is really up to you. I hope to serve as a guide and sounding board, offering space for you to explore, as well as tools and suggestions to help you reach your goals.
MY AREAS OF SPECIALTY
I have a master’s degree in counseling psychology and am a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. I’m passionate about working with clients who want to break the dieting cycle, learn to feel “normal” around food and heal from negative body image. I’m especially interested in embodiment and mindfulness practices to help individuals tune into their bodies and the present moment. I'm also trained in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), which is a systematic therapeutic technique that has been found to be highly effective in the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
HOW I SPEND MY FREE TIME
When I’m not working with clients on building lives they love, you can find me spending time with my husband and our four young boys. As you might imagine, they keep me pretty busy! As a family we enjoy walking and biking, playing board games, and trying different donut shops around the Twin Cities. When I get a little “me time” I enjoy practicing yoga, strength training, reading, and catching up with friends over coffee.
Kristi Hall, M.A., LMFT, clinical supervisor
Whether you’ve been in therapy before or you’re taking your first steps now, you know that it is crucial that you find someone who you can connect with, feel at ease with, and who you know just “gets it.”
My clients and colleagues tell me I am affirming, direct, and funny. I believe deeply in the intrinsic strength, worth, and dignity of every individual, and I consider it an honor to walk alongside people on their journeys. I am passionate about helping people find healing in the areas of their lives that feel broken and move toward experiencing a full and free life. I have personal experience with late-in-life ADHD diagnosis, religious trauma, and disordered eating, and these experiences guide and inform my work with clients.
My Areas of Specialty
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and clinical supervisor. I am experienced in working with individuals, couples, and families in a clinical setting and I have a background working with adolescents in a school-based setting. I have specialized training in Brainspotting, Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), Intuitive Eating Counseling, and Maternal Mental Health.
How I Spend My Free Time
Parenting two amazing neurodivergent kids together with my husband/business partner takes up most of my free time! I love reading, hiking the North Shore on Lake Superior, and baking, and I have a strong desire but devastating inability to garden. Seriously, the amount of plants I’ve killed through neglect is almost criminal.
